From the expert opinion of PhDr. Nadězda Blažíčková-Horová: "The painter Oldřich Blažíček was primarily a landscape painter, but his work included a wide range of other subjects. In addition to the plein-air recordings of Czech nature that predominated in his work, alongside portraits of family and friends and views of church interiors, for which he received a professorship at the Czech Technical University, he liked and often painted fish in an aquarium, still lifes with fruit or mushrooms, and especially flowers, both cut in a vase and blooming in the garden of the house he built in Dejvice in Hanspaulka. In the 1940s Blažiček was struck by severe joint rheumatism, which severely limited his travels and left him to work at home. At that time, it was still lifes with flowers that often caught the attention of the painter with a great sense of colour. The present bouquet, as we know from the painter's memoirs, was, like many other bouquets, arranged by his wife and is the undisputed and beautiful work of Oldřich Blažíček." Verso exhibition label of the Brno House of Arts, with the name of the painting's probable original owner - Count František Harrach.
