NOBILITATION GRANTED BY RUDOLF II.

A rare surviving hereditary patent of ennoblement in German with the handwritten signature of Rudolf II at Prague Castle with an affixed seal. The document is addressed to two persons elevated to nobility, describes the depicted coat of arms with a wing and a half lily with all the requisites, which is granted to Matthias Joachim Hein and Andreas Janicke. It also contains the actual legal core of the charter with the pertinence formula. Such deeds are a valuable means of studying contemporary realities, formal language means and the structure of charters.
