In creation of Ján Želibský we can see interweaving motifs of social and city life with later anti-fascist resistance. He enjoyed horizontal division of composition and used various walls, paravans and partitions to separate human figures. Two actors are held in their own worlds during dramatization even if they are on the same canvas. He rather chose to express atmospheric tune of the situation over complete descriptiveness. This rare work comes from the artist's best and most valuable period. He studied on UMPRUM and Academy of Fine arts in Prague and on École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
