Michal Cihlář became famous mainly as an excellent graphic designer. He is primarily a linocut artist and was the author of the former visual style of the Prague Zoo, for which he created hundreds of colour linocuts and the unmistakable logo with the horse Převalský. Michal Cihlář was the only Czech artist to be included in the largest ever exhibition of world linocut art at the Cobra Museum in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, at the turn of 1999 and 2000, and his work has received many other awards. As an artist, he has succeeded in establishing the linocut technique as precise and bravura, but allowing for expressive artistic expressions, almost almost "animalistic" and grotesque.
