Jaroslav Kafka, a long-time friend of František Tichý, studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, but was taken to WWI and he did not complete the studies due to the vicissitudes of life. However, he did not give up painting and created a style inspired by Pablo Picasso's morphology, but with his own bright colors, which were probably inspired by his wife Ludmila, who often played the piano during painting and their artistic combination gave Jaroslav Kafka's work a strong feeling. He refused to exhibit artworks due to political conditions. The author often encounters the themes of card players, pipe still lifes and music lounges.
