Statuette from the collection of metalworker Karel Barták in the spirit of the poetistic - civilian flow. Jan Kodet is from the family of Czech painter and sculptor Emanuel Kodet. He studied at the School of Applied Arts in 1928–1931 under Professor Karel Dvořák, and in 1931–1935 he studied under Professor Otakar Španiel at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He was a member of the Mánes Union of Fine Artists (1933–1949). He visited France (1936), Denmark, Norway and Sweden (1946), the Netherlands (1947) and Hungary (1956). His son, painter Kristian Kodet, is continuing the family's artistic tradition.
