Vlastislav Hofman (1884 - 1964) STAGE DESIGN

Author's design of the theater stage by Vlastislav Hofman. The author wrote below: "Behind the Front - written by V. Markovičová Záturecká - Village Theat. - Director: Smažík" The author of the play was one of the personalities shaping the post-war theater scene in Slovakia after World War II. Themes of heroism and cowardice in SNP times appeared in the play. Vlastislav Hofman studied architecture and civil engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague with Professor J. Schulz, landscape drawing with J. Koula and figural drawing with A. Liebscher from 1902 to 1907. From 1918 he was a member of the group "Tvrdošíjní", which also consisted of painters J. Čapek, V. Špála, J. Zrzavý, R. Kremlička and O. Marvánek. During his life he created over 400 scene designs.
