A Maquette for a Portrait of Eva Špringerová

After the artist's return from Italy in 1956, his work begins to clearly depart from classical portraiture, with a greater orientation towards "inner" expression. The maquette is made of pewter; final bronze casts can today be found at the Regional Gallery of Art in Zlín and the National Gallery. A plaster version was published in: Věra Hladíková: Sochař Karel Hladík, Život, Dílo, Dokumenty, Vzpomínky: Gallery 2002, p. 69. Pewter.
