Trampota is considered one of the most important representatives of modern Czech landscape painting. He studied under professors Emanuel Dítě, Jan Preisler, Otakar Nejedlý and Vincenc Beneš. In the 1920s, he focused primarily on landscapes, specifically the landscape of the Orlice Mountains. The landscape near Pěčín, where he settled permanently with his family in the spring of 1923, was a frequent theme of his paintings. The auctioned work shows the clear influence of expressionism, which he had taken an interest in before the war, although the colors are less distinctive here. Oil on cardboard, signed and dated on bottom center "Jan Trampota 1923". Exhibition stamp on back: Mánes 1925.
