Redeployment of Armies under the Command of Field Marshal Lieutenant von Schlik
37 x 49,5 cm (h x w)
Starting price
The scene captures the redeployment of the cavalry, but at the same time it focuses on the figure of Count Franz Joseph von Schlik wearing a patch over the eye he lost in 1813. In all likelihood, the scene captures the celebrated winter campaign in Hungary in 1848-49, when Count von Schlik held the rank of Field Marshal Lieutenant. (In the autumn of 1849 he was promoted to the rank of Cavalry General). Watercolor on paper. Marked on bottom right with an illegible signature and date. Expert consultation: Jan Šach.
