Jiří Kalousek liked to listen to people's stories and adapted his artistic narrative accordingly. The relatively spare and eloquent portraits of people are often testimonies of people about interpersonal relationships, or ask quite serious questions about human behaviour. The illustrations of children's books project an imaginative, fairy-tale-like subtle beauty on the border of dream and waking into later works.
