This extraordinary Italian museum-quality chest of drawers, made of Genoese and at the time expensively imported Caucasian walnut with a rich pattern, is an extraordinary example of Italian Renaissance precision carving and bronzing. The bronze handles depict creatures inspired by Greek mythology, the putti stylized in the likeness of Triton, the Greek messenger of the sea. Behind the top drop-down face, a pull-out writing desk with a total of four drawers. On the sides, figural carvings, characteristic of the "bambocci" style, with ancient figures, volute decoration and stylized pitorean monsters and mascots. The upper geometric panel is flanked by a carved chariot with an acanata leaf. Very good preserved condition.
