Antonín Kalvoda belonged to important and prolific Czech sculptors, his well-known works include, for example, a bust of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, Tumba in Ostrava, or animal sculptures. He first studied in Brno, then the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1929-1934). The offered sculpture of a prancing horse, which dates back to the early days of his study in Prague, is unique not only in its size but also in the masterful quality of bronze processing.
