The model is one of Marcel Breuer's early designs while working at the Bauhaus in Weimar, Tischlerei Bauhaus Weimar. The geometrically pure shape, following the style of the Dutch architect Gerrit Rietveld and the De Stijl movement, not only creates an aesthetic composition approaching the "chair-statue" but also ingeniously fulfills its function. Due to the fact that this model did not have its massive production, only a limited number of specimens have been preserved. This model, probably earlier in production in several variants, is located in the world's most important art institutions such as MoMa, Centre Pompidou or the Metropolitan Museum of New York. A non-original fabric was removed in the offered pair of armchairs.
