Michal Bauer (1969) OPENING (FROM THE APERTURES SERIES)

“The light allows the contrast of three-dimensional structures and smooth canvas to emerge, while shading adds slight movement, enlivening the perfect symmetry of the geometric composition. The color of the painted wheels echoes in the structure around the opening ring above it. The aperture is just clean white canvas, but it is also an opening that we had not seen due to the beauty. One does not deny the other; in contrast, the apparent emptiness may be of utmost importance – liberation.

Michal Bauer’s paintings are a space filled with quiet energy, accessible to all willing to stop and listen without a word. Continuity of his direction, perfectly polished and original form, and painstaking compositional technique are emblematic of his work. He tries to connect the unconnectable; in spite of the fine details offering an inner feeling of calm and balance, his paintings are intended to continuously radiate with freshness, so that they may never lose their generous nature even though they are quite fragile.
