Czech architect Josef Gocár left an important legacy in his furniture and interior designs. Like his colleagues Jan Kotera and Pavel Janák, he approached architecture and interior design with the aim of creating a single, coherent whole. In 1912 he co-founded Prazské umelecké dílny (Prague Art Workshops, PUD) with Janák and Josef Chochol. They went on to make exclusive pieces tailored for specific clients, particularly his friends and acquaintances, actors, artists and physicians. Furniture pieces and other design accessories are manufactured from high-quality solid wood, and are currently highly valued and included in the most important collections.
