Alois Kalvoda is primarily known as a landscape painter who did not follow in the footsteps of his teacher, Julius Mařák, turning away from traditional, realistic and smooth painting towards Art Nouveau decorativism and Impressionism. Figural motifs tend to be the exception in Kalvoda's work. "A Groom from Týnec" has a counterpart, "A Bride from Týnec"; both paintings were published as postcards by Minerva publishing company. Oil on canvas, signed on bottom left "Al. Kalvoda".
