Simple Cubist forms - a triangular frieze and side columns - make reference to the work of architect Otakar Novotný. Novotný had used the column (showcase) elements and exhibited them as part of the Czechoslovak Werkbund exhibit at the First Werkbund Exhibition in Cologne, Germany in 1914. The architect later used a similar relief of the triangular top section in furniture he designed for Dr. Ledeč in 1922. The clock architecture itself is simple, but its Cubist forms are emphasized by color lines. The object can be dated to the artist's late Cubist period of the 1920s. Coloured and golden glazed ceramic, brass.
