This Czech-German's work is mostly associated with architecture. Metzner was involved in decorating a number of important buildings in Austria, Germany and Bohemia, but perhaps his most well-known work was the decoration of Stoclet Palace in Brussels. The statuette on offer is from the artist's later period, which is typified by smooth S-shapes. Particularly noteworthy is the detailed precision work, which is not as visible on the terracotta model.
