Ludmila Jiřincová (1912 - 1994) GIRL WITH BUTTERFLIES

The melancholic, painterly and sensitive rendering of the author's favourite theme of the girl-princess is based on the mood of the 1940s. The focus of Ludmila Jiřincová's work was primarily on young women, acting as a symbol of human destiny or as the centre of gravity of the story. Her work has been described as dreamy, mysterious and full of longing. She herself said that above all she was trying to express "the truth of her emotion". Ludmila Jiřincová is also referred to as "the first lady of Czech graphic art".
