A rocking chair made of beech bentwood manufactured in the 1930s by D. G. Fischel & Söhne. The company was founded by the Fischel brothers in Mimoň, a town surrounded by beech forests. This wood was ideal for the production of bentwood furniture. The process consisted of heating the wood, which caused it to shrink, and then immersing it in boiling water so that it swelled and could be easily bent and manipulated. Once dry, the wood hardened into a new shape. The Fischel brothers made tables, benches, clothes stands and bed frames, but their most popular product was this rocking chair. The back and seat are original leather upholstery, which is slightly damaged in one place. The rocking chair also has a pull-out footrest. Excellent condition.
