Václav Špála (1885 - 1946) FLOWER BOUQUET

Václav Špála's fauvistic background already set him apart from his colleagues from the Osma group, whose work was more expressionistically oriented. In search of a striking and immediately effective expression, Špála did not hesitate to apply the principles of post-cubist shape deformation and reduce color to two or three contrasting tones, without denying his basic relationship to natural reality. The presented graphic sheet is a premium S.V.U. Mánes to members of the association.
