From the opinion of PhDr. Nadězda Blažíčková-Horová: "The romantic theme of a forest footbridge leading high above a stream in a deserted countryside shrouded in clouds is not a specific natural scene, but the painter's landscape idea. The artist did not paint en plein air, but at home in his studio, finding inspiration in the tufts of moss he grew outside his windows. He liked the idea of a footbridge in a forest landscape during a storm, at night, under a full moon, and varied it many times. He had many of these variations in his samplers, which he used in Vienna, Linz, Munich and Berlin. According to the customer's choice, he then processed the sample into the desired format."
