František Kaván is valued above all as a painter - poet of the Czech landscape. His work is a sonnet for all seasons in the Czech landscape, where he repeatedly went and sought moral support for his artistic expression. He avoided the city but loved the water. His departure to the countryside heralded a long and fruitful period of creation, when he separated himself from people and accepted as his closest companion the peace, modesty and simple life of the village, where his artistic challenge was horizons, gusts of wind, blooming meadows and blankets of snow.
