This exceptional Empire secretary is an example of design models from the turn between the Empire and Biedermeier periods, characterized by the simplicity of the shapes executed with masterful craftsmanship and the emphasis on the richness of the wood grain. Behind the main locking panel, a set of four drawers in contrasting light wood with handles in the form of lions in gilded bronze; around the outer locks, inlaid maple wood in the shape of parallelograms. Two lockable drawers below finished with two giltwood lion paws.
This is a truly rare and designer piece of furniture, designed for the most demanding clientele of its time. According to the markings on the back, it was a piece of furniture from the furnishings of the Empire castle in Ratibořice. Completely restored. Original keys.
