A lyrical allegory of spring, showing the figure of a young girl in a flowering grove, is a remarkable example of the artist's course towards Impressionism – both in the selection of the theme and the painting technique. He enjoys pastel tones and does not portray real nature; according to V. V. Štecha, he was not a "copier" of nature and did not view figures the same way as his teacher, František Ženíšek; figures were a part of the action. The work comes from the period when Špillar lived in France, where he encountered modern art movements. Impressionism and decorativism left the strongest mark on his work. The work is exceptional in that it dates from his early period, but also in its size. Oil on canvas, signed and dated on bottom right "K.Š. 1903".
