Simple Cubist forms - a triangular frieze and side columns make reference to the work of architect Otakar Novotný. Novotný had used the column (showcase) elements and exhibited them as part of the Czechoslovak Werkbund exhibit at the First Werkbund Exhibition in Cologne, Germany in 1914. The architect later used a similar relief of the triangular top section in furniture he designed for Dr. Ledeč in 1922. The architecture of the clock reflects his effort at lightness and ridding the object of decorativeness; for this reason, the object can be placed in the artist's later Cubist period in the 1920s. White glazed ceramics. Slightly damaged.
