The functionalist writing desk designed by designer Rudolf Vichr and inspired by the German Bauhaus movement, manufactured by Vichr and Co., forms one unit with a tubular chair in the same finish. The table consists of a total of three key-locked drawers with nickel-plated metal handles and a door, inside which is one pull-out shelf. The red lacquered wood is intertwined with a chrome tubular steel frame. Rudolf Vichr won numerous awards for his designs during his career, including a gold medal at the 1958 Brussels World Exhibition. His designs have been exhibited in museums around the world, including New York's Museum of Modern Art and London's Victoria and Albert Museum. Fully restored, with glass plate above.
