Jaroslav Grus studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Professor Hanus Schwaiger. Thanks to a scholarship, he visited Venice and Dalmatia, and later also visited France and Italy. His work, which focuses mainly on the Czech landscape, is characterised by its fauvist colouring and dynamic conception of the image. Interesting is his reduction of figures, which reaches a cubist position. The work takes on an earlier and purer form, later leaning towards socialist realism. Dedication: To dear D. Frant. Vázka 6.8. 1967. Framed under anti-reflective glass with UV filter.
