From the expert opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The interior of the ancient temple is an undoubted and very high-quality work by Ludvík Kohl from 1815. It is already exceptional due to its marking and dating. The picture was probably painted for a certain purpose, and the fact that he returned to the ancient theme in , when he mostly devoted himself to depicting Gothic buildings, especially the St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle. In addition to Gothic, he was interested in antiquity in terms of subject matter, but his paraphrases are, however, invented and unreal, just like in the presented painting. He combined real elements with fictitious ones and classicist linearity with refined lighting arrangement."
