René Roubíček was one of the leading figures of Czech glassmaking, for example he participated in the Czechoslovak pavilion at the 1958 World Exhibition. He taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, collaborated with the designer Borko Šípek and with the companies Crystalex, Moser, Lasvit, Preciosa and a number of glassworks. The author himself said: 'Glass - it is water stopped to please the human eye. Glass is jazz improvisation in visual culture." Each of his original glass is a work of the moment, a unique improvisation on a prepared theme. René Roubíček lets the glass speak freely in his work, and during the creative process his vision changes according to the natural properties and shaping of the glass. The object "Angel" from the series "Forge of Angels" was created using the technique of metallurgical shaping, so called "free hand". The work comes from the important collection of Jiří Šetlík.
