From the expert opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented Night in the Rocks is an indisputable work of August Bedřich Piepenhagen from his late period, from the first half of the 1960s. At that time, in the name of high romanticism, Piepenhagen composed and paraphrased views of forest lakes with full-moon reflection on the water surface, distant views of mountain valleys, shots of picturesque forest thickets, mountain streams, but also rocky night landscapes. He painted the landscape exclusively according to his own imagination, mostly quiet, dreamy, undisturbed by man, only exceptionally with lonely pilgrims. Sensitivity, mood and nostalgia, the cult of ruins, silent witnesses of the past, gorges, waterfalls and rocks, these are the main features of Piepenhagen's works, which still belong to popular articles.
