The artistically very mature painting, probably by a Flemish author, offers a look at the scene where David triumphantly returns with the head of Goliath, cut by his own sword. The girls greet him with music and dance, and place rose flowers at his feet. Interestingly, the painting shows Flemish and Italian elements. While the composition with a tree in the middle and a view of the background on one side with architecture on the other side with the army is Flemish, the typology girls' faces is completely different from the Flemish authors of similar scenes. It clearly shows the Italian experience. Very well crafted figures, beautifully painted drapery, cultivated colors. Extremely successful and detailed design.
