Painter Irena Dědičová studied under Professor Vladimír Sychra at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1951–1956) and in the mid-1950s she participated in several group exhibitions in Prague. In 1958 her work was displayed at the Youth Exhibitions at the Brno House of Arts, and in 1959 she had a solo exhibition in Bucharest and participated in the international youth exhibitions in Vienna. In the early 1960s she created a large series of Informel resin stained glass compositions and a number of decorative paintings and frescoes for use in architecture in Prague, Košice, Milovice and other locations. From 1964 she alternated between Paris and Prague. In 1966 her series of drawings and goaches underwent a fundamental transformation that would foreshadow her subsequent works. She participated in the Fantasy Aspects of Contemporary Czech Art in Prague and a group exhibition at Galerie Maya in Brussels in 1967. In 1968 she participated in the Phases exhibition in Lille. Her work is represented at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Králové and National Gallery in Prague.
