Modern urban traffic on the backdrop of historical architecture – old and modern – is exactly what interested Kotík, as well as a number of his generational cohorts. Both scenes overlap, creating organic unity. Also interesting is the brushwork, which reflects both "counterpoints" – as the architecture is interpreted realistically, one can recognize individual styles, while the figures are merely indicated, both formally and in terms of color.
