According to an assessment by Associate Professor Jiří Šetlík, the Cubist head comes from the period of Gutfreund's prime, when he reconciled and "parted" with Cubism. The plaster version is in the collections of the National Gallery (inv.no. P 4908), which the Central Arts and Crafts Office had cast in bronze in 1964. It was similarly transferred to fired clay. It is not known when exactly the pewter cast was made; Associate Professor Šetlík believes it may have occurred in 1948, for a collected exhibition of the artist's work. Pewter, unsigned. Assessment: Associate Professor PhDr. Jiří Šetlík, CSc.
