At the beginning of his career he was influenced by expressionism and the work of Bohumil Kubišta. After 1958 he abandoned figurative themes and devoted himself to abstract painting. Here he was influenced by personalities such as Vladimír Boudník, Jan Koblasa, Mikuláš Medek; he openly adhered to Pollock. From 1960 onwards, he transformed the surface drama of gestures of psychological self-identification into relief formations of brutally destroyed images-objects, for the creation of which he used a variety of materials (wood, wire, string, textiles, sheet metal, asphalt varnish, acronex, etc.), technical processes and tools. With the onset of 1964, the material formations became "confessional tablets" of his life drama. The large-scale work on offer, with a relief structure, was intended for the area of the gatehouse at Ruzyně Airport. The artist died prematurely at the age of 29.
