The gold 100-crown coin from 1911 with the likeness of Franz Joseph I with a purity of 900/1000 (21.6 carats) minted by the Vienna Mint in 11,165 pieces is sought after and valued by many collectors for its rarity. The monetary reform implemented in 1892 introduced a crown currency in Austria-Hungary, which was linked to gold. The gold 10 and 20 crowns thus replaced the gold pieces (guldens) in circulation. On the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the reign of Franz Joseph I (reigned 1848-1916), a gold 100 krona was issued in 1908. It was subsequently minted from 1909 to 1915. Obverse: Emperor Franz Joseph I looking right with the text FRANC IOS I D G IMP AUSTR REX BOH GAL ILL ETC ET AP REX HUNG. Reverse: double-headed eagle C CORANAE MDCCCCXI 100 COR 1911.
