Alois Jaroněk (1870 - 1944) A GROUP OF THREE DECORATIVE PLATES

A group of three porcelain plates with painted herb motifs by Moravian artist Alois Jaroněk (1876-1942): Ivan Tsarevich and the Firebird | The Feather of Finist the Falcon | The Tale of Ivan Tsarevich.

Two of the plates feature a dedication to Antonín Rudolf. Signed on back with the artist's symbol.

The original paintings were made by Russian artist Ivan Bilibin (1876–1942), a painter and illustrator who lent his talents to illustrating herbs and Pushkin’s tales. He was also a costume and stage designer for the operas in Moscow, Buenos Aires, Prague and Brno.

The black lines used to separate color fields are typical for Bilibin, who integrated stained-glass art with inspiration from British illustrator Aubrey Beardsley, Japanese artist Hokusai, and French graphic artists like Boutet de Monvel into his work.
