The artist is one of a small group of sculptresses who influenced the Czech post-war art scene. She studied sculpture under Professor Josef Wagner at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, and was a member of the Trasa art group. She expressed herself as a sculptor in various materials; clay is just one of the materials she used. In all materials, however, she seeks structure. The sculpture offered here -- imprints of fallen leaves -- is a fitting example of a structural study enclosed in a solid shape, a metal frame, which is intended as a part of the artistic message. The work comes directly from the artist's estate and is listed in the catalogue Zdena Fibichová, Museum of Central Bohemia, Roztoky u Prahy, 1983, no. 38. Fired clay, plywood, painted sheet metal.
