Miloslav Hájek was a Czech sculptor and painter. From 1945 to 1951 he studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, in the studio of Professor Josef Wagner. He was a member of the Free Association of Cheerful Artists and the Czech Fine Arts Fund. He belonged to the group of visual artists May 57, which brought together the pioneers of contemporary modern art. Its artists were based on the modernist traditions of Czech and world art, but especially the French current until 1948. The group thus maintained the continuity of modern Czech art even in the times of the toughest Stalinism. The sitting nude of a girl next to a table with two contrasting objects belongs to the rare collectible examples of Miloslav Hájek's top work.
