An early and unusual landscape theme depicts a rainy February in an urban landscape. Longer, softer brush strokes predominate, and the composition is suitably complemented by figural staff. Antonín Kybal was our most prominent figure in home textile design and an innovator of textile creation in the 20th century. With his work and later his pedagogical work, he elevated textile work from the sphere of conservative and declining traditional craftsmanship into a completely distinctive artistic means of expression, corresponding to the language of modernism. Kybal's main contribution was the ability to enforce high aesthetic, craft and material demands in industrial production and blend them with current aesthetic trends.
