František Ronovský became famous mainly as a figuralist. He was known for his experiments with encaustic and hardly used canvas - he preferred fibreboard. The focus of his work is the world of people, existentiality and characters. Because of his study of the dramatization of plot, he often worked in thematic circuits, which he painstakingly reworked on many levels. The painting is an almost literal variation on a smaller work from 1989, expanded to include a broader view of the staircase, and František Ronovský returned to a similar theme of young people talking on the stairs in subsequent years.
