The image of a summer motif from the shore embedded in the water surface is a representative work of Alois Kalvoda, a student of Mařák's landscape specialty. Here, in a square format, the artist lets the natural color of the water surface and adjacent aquatic vegetation clearly resonate, a narrow path winds around the shore. The trees are shrouded in a shimmering morning haze. After his studies at the AVU, Kalvoda spent his studies in Paris and Munich. He gradually deviated from Mařák's school of painting melancholic landscapes and moved towards a more decorative concept of landscape in color and motif. He painted simple motifs of the Czech region, meadows, hillsides, birch trees, views of the region between the trunks of trees standing in the foreground or in the background of the hillside.
