From the expert opinion of PhDr. Pavly Pečinková, CSc.: "The presented image has not yet been recorded in the professional literature. The motif of building a snowman has dozens of variations in the work of Josef Lada. It already appears in Humoristic lists, it is used in illustrations of children's books (for example, for the fairy tale Snow White). Since the mid-1930s , when Lada begins to apply himself not only as a caricaturist and illustrator, but also as a painter, is also reflected in his free work. Artistic features are typical of Lada's painting of the 1930s, especially for more freely executed landscape studies, which in their style correspond to the contemporary orientation of the art department Art talks (e.g. Crows fly, 1933, National gallery in Prague, Winter landscape, 1935, Art gallery in Zlín, Czech village, 1935, etc.) The work is made on high-quality branded cardboard, which Lada usually used."
