The subject of baptism by Alois Wachsman, an important painter, architect and Czech avant-garde artist who was at the birth of the art association Devětsil, is a beautiful example of poetic naïvism - an artistic direction that was started by the first spring exhibition in 1922 together with, for example, J. Čapek, F. Muzika and by K. Teige. In addition to choosing the primitivist style of drawing, the author also enhances the effort to get closer to the popular layers with a casual composition with the representation of ordinary people with a priest. With a confident drawing technique, he achieves contrasts, and models the volumes of individual objects with light.
