Mária Rudavská was a textile artist from Slovakia who found her own artistic language through weaving. In her work, the archetypes of protectors and guardian angels in folk morphology prevail. The choice of colors and materials is rather modest, the message clearly dominates the pleasantness. Czech and Slovak textile work of the second half of the 20th century deviates from the traditional concept and becomes a new artistic expression that crossed borders. The works of both prominent artists and students of the University of Applied Arts in Prague were sent abroad from our territory. Under the guidance of artisanally and artistically gifted authors, e.g. Antonín Kybal, who took care to understand the basic tapestry canon, artists began to move to self-woven techniques that allowed them to change the sequence of weaving according to their own needs and moods without depending on the weavers.
