From the expert opinion of PhDr. M.Sc. Michael Zachař: "We consider Kaván's paintings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to be the most masterful works ever. Some time around 1901, the plein air piece assessed here was created a short distance outside Jičín of considerable technical and expressive maturity. In the distant perspective, the horizon is accentuated by the roof of the Valdice Baroque church with a slender by a saint. The mood is spun from a few valeres of green, ocher brown and gray-blue colors. I rate the discovery of a hitherto unknown artistically suggestive work as significant and contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the rarest section of the author's work."
