Reliefs inspired by ancient motifs were among the frequent themes of Olbram Zoubek's work. Kouros is an idealized male figure typically with his hands along his body. Olbram Zoubek is one of the most important Czech figurative sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. He lived and worked between Prague, where he had a studio, and Litomyšl. Humankind and the human body are central themes in his work, and his elongated bodies reflect archetypes of human existence. In his work he emphasizes the craftsmanship and timelessness of the art object. In the author's list of works by Mgr. Jan Kapusta in the book Olbram Zoubek from 1996, this work has the number 568. The same metal (lead) relief is on display in the cellars of Litomyšl chateau.
