René Roubíček was one of the leading figures in Czech glassmaking, for example, he took part in the Czechoslovak pavilion at the 1958 World's Fair. The author himself said: "Glass - the water stopped to please the human eye. Glass is jazz improvisation of art culture." René Roubíček painted from an early age and wanted to be an original painter. Unfortunately, the Second World War came and the only school he could study with his artistic sensibility was the School of Applied Arts in Prague. Roubíček thus entered the glass studio of Jaroslav Václav Holeček and quickly became attached to this creative discipline. Each of his author's glasses is a work of the moment, a unique improvisation on a prepared topic. René Roubíček lets the glass speak freely in his work and during the creative process his vision changes according to the natural properties and shaping of the glass.
